Twins Place Joe Ryan on 15-Day Injured List
The Minnesota Twins announced that pitcher Joe Ryan will be placed on the 15-day injured list due to a mild left glute strain. Manager Derek Shelton informed reporters about the decision, which comes as the team prepares for their series opener against Milwaukee.
Ryan's injury follows a series of disappointing performances since the All-Star Break, where he had previously maintained a sub-3.00 ERA. In his last three starts, he has allowed 17 runs over 15 1/3 innings, leading to losses in all three games. Zebby Matthews will be recalled from Triple-A St. Paul to take Ryan's spot in the rotation.
Despite the setback, the Twins remain competitive in the division and Wild Card races, currently sitting three games behind the Chicago White Sox and tied with the Cleveland Guardians. They recently ended a four-game losing streak with a victory over Kansas City, but their position in the standings remains precarious.
