Twins Sign Ron Marinaccio to Minor League Contract
The Minnesota Twins have signed veteran reliever Ron Marinaccio to a minor league contract following his clearance of waivers. Marinaccio, who was designated for assignment by the Reds earlier this week, opted for free agency.
This season, Marinaccio has played for three different teams and has been designated for assignment three times. He struggled with the Reds, allowing 10 earned runs in just four appearances, including a particularly poor outing where he gave up five runs against the Marlins.
Previously, Marinaccio started the season with the Padres and was a consistent member of their bullpen until he was released after the All-Star Break. He briefly joined the Pirates but faced difficulties during his short tenure there. Despite maintaining his velocity, Marinaccio has seen a decrease in the effectiveness of his fastball. The Twins have bolstered their bullpen recently, acquiring several pitchers, and Marinaccio is expected to provide additional depth in Triple-A.
