Twins Strengthen Roster Ahead of Trade Deadline

The Minnesota Twins have taken a proactive approach in their pursuit of a playoff spot, making several key acquisitions at the trade deadline. They added pitchers Dean Kremer, A.J. Minter, and Jeff Hoffman to bolster their roster.

In their efforts, the Twins considered trading for players such as Kevin Gausman from the Blue Jays and Jose Soriano and Zach Neto from the Angels. Soriano was ultimately traded to the Blue Jays in exchange for a package of three prospects, including shortstop Arjun Nimmala. The Angels had sought top prospect Walker Jenkins in return for Neto, but the Twins opted not to part with him.

Reports indicate that Neto received assurances shortly before the deadline that he would remain a key player for the Angels moving forward. This could signal potential future discussions regarding a contract extension, although the team has not engaged in long-term negotiations with him yet. Neto is under arbitration control until 2029, reducing the urgency for an extension.
