Two Players from Braves and Phillies Choose Minor League Free Agency
Two players affiliated with NL East teams, Payton Henry of the Phillies and a pitcher from the Braves, have opted for minor league free agency, as reported by MiLB.com.
Payton Henry, a catcher, has had limited major league experience, playing 20 games with the Marlins in 2021-22. In 2026, he was briefly on the Phillies' roster but did not see any game action. Throughout his career, Henry has played for five different organizations and has a .253 batting average in Triple-A.
The other player, who joined the Braves via a waiver claim in September 2025, faced challenges in the major leagues, posting an 8.22 ERA over a short stint. He spent most of the 2026 season at Triple-A Gwinnett, where he had a more favorable 3.89 ERA. Both players are now seeking new opportunities in the minor leagues.
