Ty Gallop Avoids Suspension for Dangerous Tackle
Brisbane defender Ty Gallop has been cleared of suspension following a dangerous tackle on Collingwood's Charlie West during a match at the MCG on Friday night.
The 20-year-old can either accept a $3000 fine or a reduced $2000 fine with an early plea. The incident took place late in the third quarter when Gallop tackled West and subsequently slammed him into the ground.
West received a free kick for the dangerous tackle and scored one of his three career-high goals. He completed the match without any issues related to his head injury assessment. Match review officer Michael Christian classified Gallop's actions as rough and careless conduct, noting low impact and high contact. Gallop will be available to play in the Lions' qualifying final against either Sydney or Fremantle in two weeks.
