Ty Gibbs, who did not participate in the 2025 NASCAR postseason, is now a leading contender for the championship in the current season. He achieved his second career Cup Series victory at Iowa, moving him to second place in the standings with three races remaining in the regular season.

This year has marked a significant improvement for the 23-year-old, as he has surpassed his previous records for top five and top ten finishes, boasting a career-best average finish of 11.6. His crew chief, Tyler Allen, noted that last year's challenges contributed to the team's growth, leading to improved performance across various race tracks.

During the Iowa race, Allen made a strategic pit call to change two tires, allowing Gibbs to maintain his lead against teammate Christopher Bell. Joe Gibbs, Ty's grandfather and team owner, expressed pride in witnessing his grandson's success, highlighting the hard work that has gone into achieving these results. With seven wins this season, Joe Gibbs Racing has all four of its cars ranked in the top six, with Gibbs trailing the points leader by 103 points.
