Ty Simpson Set to Play in Rams' Preseason Finale, Backup QB Decision Pending
The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for their preseason finale against the Chargers, with head coach Sean McVay confirming that rookie Ty Simpson will definitely take the field. The team is still evaluating who will serve as the backup to starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, with Stetson Bennett and Simpson in contention.
McVay indicated that Bennett and Simpson have been sharing second-team reps, with Bennett taking nine of the fifteen reps and Simpson six. Bennett, who is entering his fourth season without regular-season experience, had a strong showing in the recent preseason game against the Saints, completing 19 of 31 passes for 181 yards and scoring two rushing touchdowns. Simpson also played well, finishing with 8 of 12 passes for 73 yards.
The Rams will play as the away team at SoFi Stadium on Thursday night, as they finalize their roster decisions ahead of the regular season.
