Tyler Soderstrom Placed on 10-Day Injured List Due to Hip Impingement
The Oakland Athletics announced that Tyler Soderstrom has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to August 15, due to a left hip impingement. This decision was made prior to their game against the Texas Rangers, and infielder Darell Hernaiz has been called up from Triple-A to fill the roster spot.
This marks the second time in two months that Soderstrom has faced this hip issue, having previously been sidelined on June 28 for the minimum 10 days. A's manager Mark Kotsay indicated that Soderstrom has been experiencing ongoing discomfort, which he believes is affecting his performance. Soderstrom plans to consult a specialist regarding his condition.
There is a possibility that Soderstrom may miss the remainder of the season, especially given the Athletics' poor standing in the league. As of now, Soderstrom's season statistics include 19 home runs and a .245 batting average over 453 plate appearances. The Athletics have struggled significantly, with a record of 48-75, and currently have 13 players on the injured list, including their top hitters from the previous season.
