Tyron Woodley Secures First Win in Eight Years at RAF 12
Tyron Woodley, a former UFC welterweight champion, marked his return to victory in combat sports on Saturday night at Real American Freestyle 12 in Cleveland, winning against Joaquin Buckley with a score of 14-8.
Woodley faced a challenging start, falling behind 8-1 after Buckley executed two four-point throws. However, Woodley managed to narrow the gap to 8-7 by scoring two step-outs and a four-point gut wrench before the end of the first period. In the final period, he tied the match and then took control with a decisive four-point takedown, adding two more points before the match concluded.
This victory ended an eight-year winless streak for Woodley, who last won a match in September 2018 against Darren Till at UFC 228. Following that victory, he experienced a series of losses in both UFC and boxing. Woodley is set to compete again on September 5 at RAF Moscow against former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev.
