UAE Cricketer Asif Khan Receives 15-Month Ban for Doping Violation
Asif Khan, a cricketer representing the United Arab Emirates, has been handed a 15-month suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC) following a positive doping test. The test, conducted out-of-competition, revealed the presence of a banned anabolic steroid.
The positive result was linked to a sample taken on September 8, 2025, which contained a metabolite of mesterolone, a substance known for its testosterone-boosting properties. Khan, who is 36 years old, acknowledged his breach of the ICC Anti-Doping Code and accepted the imposed sanction through an agreement with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the ICC.
The ban is retroactive, starting from September 8, 2025, and will last until December 7, 2026. Khan will be permitted to resume training with a team or use club facilities starting October 8, but he will not be eligible to participate in competitive matches until December 8. Additionally, all his results from September 8, 2025, until his provisional suspension began on December 29, 2025, have been annulled, affecting any medals or prizes he may have earned during that period.
