UCLA Bruins Dismiss Athletic Director Martin Jarmond Ahead of 2026 Season

The UCLA Bruins have announced the dismissal of athletic director Martin Jarmond, occurring shortly before the start of the 2026 college football season.

This decision comes as head football coach Bob Chesney prepares for his inaugural game against the Cal Golden Bears on September 5. The move follows an audit of the athletic department conducted by Tim Harris, a former executive with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Chancellor Julio Frenk reportedly made the decision after extensive discussions, influenced by revenue issues and a perceived lack of support for Jarmond within the department. His buyout is estimated at $6.5 million, which will be funded by UCLA donors. Harris will temporarily fill the role of CEO and athletic director while the university seeks a permanent replacement.
