UEFA Files Criminal Complaint Against FIFA President Infantino in Switzerland

UEFA is taking legal action against FIFA President Gianni Infantino, filing a criminal complaint in Swiss courts for potential financial mismanagement linked to his unsuccessful proposal to sell future World Cup profits to private investors.

The complaint includes a request for evidence from Thrive Capital Management, an investment fund founded by Joshua Kushner, which was set to invest $4.2 billion for a 20 percent stake in FIFA's commercial operations. UEFA's legal team is also seeking authorization for discovery against FIFA in a Florida district court.

Infantino's plan faced significant opposition from global soccer leaders, leading to its withdrawal on August 1. UEFA's lawyers allege that the proposed investment terms were designed to benefit Infantino and a select group, undermining FIFA's interests and those of its members.
