UEFA to Lift Boycott Threat Against FIFA Tournaments

UEFA is preparing to drop its threat to withdraw from FIFA tournaments following reassurances about the FIFA Forward Enterprise proposal. This decision is expected to be confirmed during a meeting of UEFA's executive committee in Monaco on Thursday.

The governing body had previously indicated that conditions to avoid a boycott were unmet, despite FIFA's abandonment of the proposal after significant opposition. UEFA sought guarantees that similar initiatives involving private ownership would not be attempted again.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino informed national associations that the proposal is no longer under consideration and acknowledged past errors. If UEFA proceeds with lifting the boycott, the Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland will continue as scheduled, featuring six European teams. However, UEFA is likely to maintain its broader opposition to Infantino's leadership.
