UEFA Withdraws Confidence in FIFA President Gianni Infantino

UEFA has announced a loss of confidence in FIFA President Gianni Infantino after his controversial proposal to sell stakes in FIFA competitions was abandoned.

The proposal, which faced significant opposition from major football confederations, was officially dropped on Saturday. UEFA had previously indicated it would boycott FIFA competitions if the plan proceeded.

In a statement, UEFA highlighted that the situation has severely undermined trust in FIFA's leadership. The proposal aimed to offer member associations $40 million in exchange for their support, but resistance from UEFA, Concacaf, and the Asian Football Confederation led to its cancellation. Infantino acknowledged that the initiative had caused divisions that were counterproductive to its goals.
