UFC 331 Title Fight: Split Opinions Among Fighters on Van vs. Pantoja Rematch
Professional fighters are divided ahead of the UFC 331 flyweight title rematch between champion Joshua Van and former titleholder Alexandre Pantoja, taking place on September 19 in Los Angeles.
Van is currently favored at minus-136, but a poll conducted by BJPenn.com revealed that seven professional fighters are split 4-3 in favor of Pantoja reclaiming the title. The two previously faced off at UFC 323, where Van won the championship in a closely contested match.
Concerns about Van's grappling performance in his last fight influenced some fighters' predictions. UFC strawweight Gillian Robertson and flyweight Cody Durden both expressed confidence in Pantoja's ability to capitalize on Van's weaknesses. Conversely, three fighters, including bantamweight Dan Ige, predicted Van would retain the title, citing his improvements since their last encounter and Pantoja's recent injury layoff.
