UFC 333: Alexander Volkanovski Aims for Featherweight Greatness

Alexander Volkanovski is set to defend his featherweight title against Movsar Evloev at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday. A victory would mark his ninth win in UFC featherweight title fights, allowing him to surpass the legendary Jose Aldo.

Volkanovski, who has won 28 of his 32 professional fights, is currently in his second championship run. His recent performances have reignited discussions about his status among the greatest featherweights, despite his modest approach to such debates.

After a challenging period that included a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria in 2024, Volkanovski took 14 months off before returning to reclaim his title. He emphasizes that overcoming adversity is more significant to him than breaking records. Facing the undefeated Evloev, who has a 10-fight winning streak, Volkanovski remains focused on the fight ahead, with no immediate plans for retirement.
