UFC Considers Gaethje-Topuria Rematch
UFC commentator Jon Anik has indicated that the organization is contemplating an immediate rematch between Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria. This consideration comes even as Gaethje has shown a preference for facing different opponents.
Topuria recently experienced his first career loss in June, where he lost the lightweight title to Gaethje through a fourth-round corner stoppage. While Gaethje is interested in avenging previous losses to Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, neither fighter currently has a scheduled match, and Gaethje is not expected to return until 2027 due to hand injuries.
This situation may allow Arman Tsarukyan a chance at a title shot if he defeats Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 331 on September 19, which could delay a potential rematch with Topuria.
