UFC Considers Stripping Tom Aspinall of Heavyweight Title
UFC President Dana White has indicated that discussions will soon commence about the possibility of stripping Tom Aspinall of his heavyweight title due to his ongoing eye problems.
Next month marks nearly a year since Aspinall's title fight against Ciryl Gane ended in a No Contest following an eye poke. Despite undergoing several surgeries, Aspinall remains unfit to compete. White noted that, similar to Valentina Shevchenko's recent decision to vacate her flyweight title, Aspinall's inactivity could lead to a similar outcome in the heavyweight division.
The relationship between Aspinall and UFC officials has faced challenges, particularly after he signed with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Talent Agency earlier this year. With no fights scheduled and almost a year of inactivity, Aspinall's reign as champion, which began when he was awarded the title from his interim champion status, may be nearing its end.
