UFC Faces $30 Million Loss from Freedom 250 Event at the White House
The UFC's Freedom 250 event, held at the White House earlier this year, incurred a loss of about $30 million, as reported by TKO Group's chief financial officer, Andrew Schleimer.
Schleimer indicated that the event's high profile contributed to the financial impact, affecting UFC's margins significantly. Despite this loss, TKO Group had previously signed a $7.7 billion contract with Paramount, which shifted major UFC events to streaming on Paramount+ instead of pay-per-view.
The Freedom 250 event was notable for its viewership, averaging around 34 million globally, marking it as one of the most-watched MMA events ever. Additionally, TKO reported a 29% year-over-year revenue increase for UFC, totaling $535.7 million in the second quarter, partly due to the new media rights deal.
