UFC Releases Undefeated Fighter Farid Basharat Amid Roster Changes
The UFC has made significant roster changes, resulting in the release of undefeated bantamweight Farid Basharat, who held a perfect 7-0 record in the organization. At 29 years old, Basharat's departure follows the conclusion of Dana White's Contender Series, which saw a record 46 fighters awarded UFC contracts.
Basharat's exit comes after he completed his contract with a victory over John Garza in July, where he expressed his desire for a new deal based on his undefeated status. Despite his achievements, including a ranking of No. 13 in the bantamweight division, the UFC has opted not to renew his contract, leaving him to seek opportunities elsewhere.
His manager, Ali Abdelaziz, had previously warned that releasing Basharat would be a mistake, emphasizing his client's capabilities as a top bantamweight. While Basharat is now a free agent, he has not yet secured a deal with other promotions. In contrast, fellow fighter Michael 'Venom' Page has already signed a new contract with Misfits Boxing after his UFC release.
