UFC to Review Tom Aspinall's Heavyweight Title Status After Year-Long Injury

The UFC is set to review Tom Aspinall's status as heavyweight champion as he approaches a year without competition due to injury, according to UFC president Dana White.

Aspinall, a 33-year-old fighter from Britain, last competed in October 2025, when his title defense against Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest due to an eye injury. Following the fight, he was diagnosed with a rare eye condition that caused persistent double vision, leading to surgery.

White mentioned that discussions regarding Aspinall's title could take place soon, especially in light of UFC women's flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko vacating her title due to ongoing injuries. Aspinall had indicated earlier this month that he was back in full training and was considering a rematch with Gane, who recently won the interim heavyweight title.
