UFL Co-Owner Addresses Attendance Issues for Battlehawks and Defenders

Mike Repole, co-owner of the UFL, has apologized for attendance declines at the Battlehawks and Defenders, promising increased resources for the teams moving forward.

The UFL is currently planning for the 2027 season while reflecting on challenges faced in 2026. Co-owner Mike Repole has acknowledged significant attendance drops for the St. Louis Battlehawks and D.C. Defenders, attributing these declines to resource allocation towards new markets.

In St. Louis, average attendance fell by 21 percent to 23,257, while D.C. saw a 31 percent decrease, averaging around 9,000 attendees. Repole expressed his commitment to providing both franchises with more resources than they had in the past five years, including local staff, payroll, and enhanced marketing efforts.

Repole also discussed the previous struggles of the league, describing it as being close to failure before recent improvements. He emphasized the importance of supporting markets where the UFL is performing well, as the league continues to seek stability and growth.
