Ugo Ugochukwu Claims 2026 Formula 3 Championship

Ugo Ugochukwu won the 2026 Formula 3 championship on Sunday at Madring, despite entering the weekend as an underdog.

The competition between Ugochukwu, driving for Campos Racing, and Trident's Freddie Slater intensified over the summer, with both drivers consistently finishing in the top three during feature races. Slater held a 15-point lead going into the final round but struggled with qualifying, starting in 17th and 8th positions.

During the final races, Ugochukwu finished second in the feature race, securing enough points to clinch the title, while Slater's performance faltered, preventing him from scoring. Ugochukwu's victory marks a significant turnaround after a challenging previous season, and he expressed gratitude to his team for their support throughout the year.
