UK Sport Redirects Funding Away from GB Snowsport

UK Sport has announced that it will cease funding through GB Snowsport, the governing body for skiing and snowboarding in the UK. Instead, it plans to allocate £12.5 million directly to athletes and coaches in preparation for the 2030 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

This decision follows Team GB's successful performance at the recent Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, where they achieved five medals, including three golds. UK Sport has informed all athletes currently receiving funding about this change, assuring them that grants will continue to be disbursed directly.

In light of this shift, an independent review of GB Snowsport's governance will be initiated. The organization expressed disappointment over the funding decision but remains committed to collaborating with UK Sport. The overall investment in winter sports has increased to over £33 million for the upcoming four-year cycle, with significant portions allocated to various sports, including bobsleigh and skeleton.
