Ukraine Files Ethics Complaint Against Russian Automobile Federation
The Automobile Federation of Ukraine has submitted a formal ethics complaint to the FIA, claiming that the Russian Automobile Federation is operating offices in territories recognized as part of Ukraine, including Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as the occupied regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia.
This complaint escalates Ukraine's ongoing dispute with the FIA, which previously decided to lift restrictions on Russian and Belarusian competitors, allowing them to use national symbols in international competitions. The Ukrainian federation argues that the Russian federation's actions violate FIA rules that recognize one national sporting authority per country.
FAU president Oleksandr Feldman emphasized that the alleged activities breach the FIA statutes. The FIA's Ethics Committee will first assess the complaint to determine if a full investigation is warranted, which could lead to further actions based on the findings.
