Ultra Cool Tech Launches Glacier TT Cockpit Cooling Kit for Triathletes
Ultra Cool Tech has unveiled the Glacier TT Cockpit Cooling Kit, aimed at assisting triathletes in managing heat during competitions. This product comes in response to the extreme temperatures often experienced at events like the Kona Ironman, where athletes have struggled with overheating.
The kit includes a cooling fabric for cockpit lining, Glacier Bar Tape, and installation tools. It is designed to enhance airflow in fairing-style extensions, which can limit cooling. The technology employs both active and passive cooling methods, utilizing water-retaining fabrics to enhance evaporation and cooling efficiency.
Company founder Chris Blomfield-Brown, who has a background in thermoregulation, noted that the demand for effective cooling solutions has grown among athletes. While the initial version of the kit has sold out, pre-orders for a second iteration are now available. Feedback on the product has highlighted some issues, such as delamination of materials, which the company is actively working to improve.
