Uncertainty Surrounds Alpine-Geely Deal for WEC Hypercar Programme
Negotiations between Geely Group and Signatech regarding the takeover of Alpine's Hypercar programme in the FIA World Endurance Championship have reportedly come to a standstill as the deadline for 2027 entries approaches.
This unexpected development follows a period where discussions seemed to be progressing positively, with Alpine team principal Philippe Sinault previously expressing confidence in the negotiations. However, recent reports indicate that the Alpine A424 LMDh cars may not be present on the grid next year.
Sinault has been working to secure the future of the operation after Renault Group's CEO decided to shut down Alpine's WEC programme. Although Geely had emerged as a potential partner, the lack of official confirmation from either party and the latest developments suggest a challenging road ahead for Signatech, which may face closure after the Monza finale on November 8.
