Understanding Champions League Squad Registration Rules
Clubs participating in the Champions League must register their squads by specific deadlines, with the latest submission required by 22:59 BST on Wednesdays. This registration involves two lists: List A and List B, each with distinct criteria.
List A allows a maximum of 25 players, including at least eight locally-trained members, with restrictions on the number of association-trained players. If a club fails to register the required number of locally-trained players, their squad size is reduced accordingly. Additionally, at least two goalkeepers must be included in List A.
List B has no upper limit on players and is intended for junior squad members. Players can qualify for List B based on their tenure with the club. Clubs can make adjustments to their squads if they reach the knockout stages, allowing for the registration of new players under certain conditions. Special rules apply for goalkeepers regarding replacements due to injury or transfers.
