Union Workers at Mount Nittany Medical Center Approve New Contract

Unionized employees at Mount Nittany Medical Center have ratified a new three-year contract after a strike that began in late July.

The agreement, reached after four months of negotiations, includes a wage increase of 3% for each of the first two years and 2% in the final year. An additional 1% wage increase may occur if the hospital successfully restores its Sole Community Hospital status through a lawsuit against the federal government.

In total, 86% of the 950 workers voted in favor of the contract, which also secures paid parental leave and introduces various safety measures, including a weapons detection system and enhanced emergency notification protocols. The contract will remain in effect until June 30, 2029.
