United States to Host Inaugural FIFA Women's Club World Cup in 2028
The inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States in 2028, as announced by FIFA on Thursday.
The tournament, scheduled for January 5–30, will feature 19 of the world's leading women's clubs, although specific host cities have yet to be revealed. Seven clubs have already qualified, including Arsenal from England, Barcelona from Spain, América from Mexico, Gotham FC from the U.S., Corinthians from Brazil, Wuhan Jiangda from China, and Naegohyang from North Korea.
FIFA's decision to return to the U.S. follows the successful hosting of the men's World Cup and the upcoming men's Club World Cup in 2025. The organization highlighted the U.S.'s strong track record in hosting major FIFA events and the growing interest in women's football as key factors in their choice.
