Unnati Sharma Secures Bronze in Women's Judo at Commonwealth Games
Unnati Sharma achieved a bronze medal in the women's 63kg judo event at the Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow, Scotland. She secured her victory on Sunday by defeating South Africa's Skye Knoester with an ippon in the bronze-medal match.
The contest concluded swiftly, with Sharma executing a decisive move that unbalanced Knoester and led to a clean throw onto her back in just 1 minute and 7 seconds. Earlier in the competition, Sharma faced a setback in the semifinals against Australia's Saya Middleton but bounced back to clinch the bronze.
Sharma's journey to the podium began with a Round of 16 win over Lamulela Magagula from Eswatini, followed by a quarterfinal victory against New Zealand's Qona Christie. However, fellow competitors Inunganbi Takhellambam and Karanjit Singh Maan were unable to secure medals in their respective events.
