US Open Announces Record $5.5 Million Prize for Singles Champions
The US Open is poised to make history by offering the highest prize in Grand Slam tennis, with the singles champions in 2026 each receiving $5.5 million. This announcement was made by the United States Tennis Association (USTA) ahead of the tournament's commencement on August 23, 2026.
The total prize pool for the tournament will reach a record $108 million, reflecting a 20% increase from the previous year and a 44% rise since 2024. The payout for singles champions has increased from the $5 million awarded in 2025. First-round losers in the singles main draw will also benefit, receiving a record $140,000.
Additional increases in payouts include $780,000 for quarterfinalists and $1.45 million for semifinalists. The runners-up will earn $2.8 million. Doubles teams will also see enhanced rewards, with winning teams splitting $1 million and runners-up sharing $500,000. The USTA has introduced a new player support program with an initial commitment of $2 million to assist players financially.
