Utah Jazz Crowned Best NBA Team Without a Championship
The 1996-97 Utah Jazz have been recognized as the best NBA team to never win a championship after winning a fan vote against the 1994-95 Orlando Magic in the final of a special tournament.
This tournament, dubbed Titleless, featured a total of 64 teams from NBA history that did not secure a title. The event aimed to retroactively award a championship to one of these teams, allowing fans to engage with the history of the league during a time when the 2020 NBA Playoffs were disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The selection process involved a committee that identified the best season for each franchise, leading to a final 32-team bracket where fans participated in voting to determine the champion. The Jazz's victory highlights the ongoing discussions among fans regarding the legacy of teams that fell short in their pursuit of a title.
