Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Duleep Trophy Debut Ends Early
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's debut in the Duleep Trophy took a disappointing turn as he was dismissed for just eight runs while playing for East Zone against North East Zone in Bengaluru. The match took place on Sunday at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 2.
Sooryavanshi opened the innings alongside Abhimanyu Easwaran and started with two consecutive boundaries. However, his innings ended abruptly when he edged a delivery from Bishworjit Konthoujam to Joseph Lalthankhuma at gully, departing after facing only six balls.
The North East Zone won the toss and chose to bowl first, providing Sooryavanshi with a chance to showcase his skills in red-ball cricket. Despite being appointed as East Zone's vice-captain, his first-class statistics remain modest, with an average of just over 17 runs in eight matches. East Zone features experienced players, including skipper Ishan Kishan and pacer Mohammed Shami, as they aim to progress in the tournament.
