Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's Performance at No. 3 Criticized After T20I Against New Zealand
Ravichandran Ashwin has raised concerns regarding Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's performance while batting at No. 3 in India's second T20I against New Zealand. Sooryavanshi, who stepped in for the injured Ishan Kishan, scored only four runs off eight balls after entering the game in the sixth over.
Ashwin noted that Sooryavanshi appeared to struggle in this unfamiliar batting position, describing him as being out of his depth. He emphasized the need for a senior player to guide the young batter during such challenging moments, suggesting that a more experienced partner could help him focus better and improve his timing.
Ashwin proposed that if India intends to keep Sooryavanshi in the lineup alongside Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, it might be beneficial for Samson to take on the No. 3 role, which he has successfully filled in the past.
