Vallejos Sees Opportunity for Title Shot After Rodriguez Withdrawal
Kevin Vallejos views the featherweight title scenario as more favorable after Yair Rodriguez withdrew from Noche UFC 4, where he was scheduled to fight Jean Silva.
Rodriguez was set to compete against Silva on September 12 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, but Jose Delgado will now take his place. Delgado, a prospect with four UFC victories, does not have the same experience as Rodriguez. Vallejos, who previously lost to Silva in 2023, indicated on social media that this change could lead to a title shot for the winner of the upcoming fights.
Vallejos earned his UFC contract in 2024 and has achieved four consecutive victories, three of which were finishes. His recent performances included bonuses for victories over Giga Chikadze and Josh Emmett. Silva, who recently won against Arnold Allen, now faces a less significant challenge in Delgado, making the path to a title shot clearer for contenders who secure notable wins.
