
Valter Sedin Scores First Goal for Canada in Draw at Concacaf U20 Championship
Valter Sedin scored his inaugural competitive goal for Canada in international soccer during a match against Jamaica at the Concacaf U20 Championship in Puebla, Mexico, on Saturday.
Sedin managed to dribble past several Jamaican defenders before finding the net on a deflection early in the second half, leveling the score at 1-1. The match concluded with a 2-2 tie, allowing Canada to finish first in Group C with one win and two draws.
This result sets the stage for a quarterfinal rematch between Canada and Jamaica on Wednesday. The four teams that win their quarterfinal matches will qualify for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup. Additionally, the tournament winner will earn a spot in the 2028 Olympics and the 2027 Pan American Games. Marius Aiyenero also contributed a goal for Canada in the match.
