Vancouver Canucks Sign Goaltender Chris Driedger to Tryout Agreement

The Vancouver Canucks have signed goaltender Chris Driedger to a professional tryout agreement, as announced by the team on Thursday. This move could provide Driedger with an opportunity to return to the National Hockey League.

Driedger, 32, played last season in the KHL for Traktor Chelyabinsk, where he recorded a 3.05 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage over 23 games. He last appeared in the NHL during the 2023-24 season, having been signed by the Florida Panthers before being traded to the Winnipeg Jets in March 2025, although he only played with the AHL affiliates of both teams.

Throughout his NHL career, Driedger has participated in 67 games with the Seattle Kraken, Florida Panthers, and Ottawa Senators, achieving a record of 31 wins, 24 losses, and 5 overtime losses, alongside a 2.45 goals-against average and .917 save percentage. The Canucks currently have veteran goaltenders Thatcher Demko and Kevin Lankinen, but Demko's injury status is uncertain as training camp approaches. Additionally, the Canucks announced the hiring of Sean Finn as an amateur scout after his seven seasons in the KHL.
