Vanderbilt to Start Freshman QB Jared Curtis Against NC State
Vanderbilt University is anticipated to start five-star freshman quarterback Jared Curtis in their upcoming game against NC State on Saturday. This decision follows the team's initial two games where veteran Blaze Berlowitz was the starting quarterback.
During practice this week, Curtis has been working with the first-team offense. He is recognized as the highest-rated recruit in Vanderbilt's history, having been ranked as the second-best quarterback and overall prospect in the 2026 recruiting class.
In his limited appearances, Curtis completed 7-of-9 passes for 60 yards in the season opener against Austin Peay and later took over for Berlowitz in the game against Delaware, finishing with 14-of-22 passing for 210 yards, one touchdown, and two rushing touchdowns. Coach Clark Lea praised Curtis's ability to manage the game despite challenges, indicating that Curtis is likely to be the new starting quarterback.
