Vanderbilt's Jared Curtis Set to Return Against No. 9 Ole Miss
The Vanderbilt Commodores are set to welcome back quarterback Jared Curtis for their upcoming game against No. 9 Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon. Curtis, a five-star freshman, missed last week's matchup against Georgia due to an injury sustained in the previous game against Auburn.
In that game, Curtis faced significant pressure, running the ball 18 times and suffering four sacks. Veteran quarterback Blaze Berlowitz started in his absence, completing 52.2% of his passes for 190 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Curtis has demonstrated his potential in four games, completing 64.3% of his passes for 746 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions, despite some early decision-making challenges.
His return is expected to enhance the Vanderbilt offense, particularly against an Ole Miss defense that has struggled against the run, ranking 127th nationally in rushing yards allowed per game. Running back Sedrick Alexander, who leads the team with 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns, may play a crucial role in supporting Curtis as he makes his second career start. Vanderbilt has not defeated Ole Miss since 2018, adding extra significance to this matchup.
