
Venkatesh Iyer Faces Chess Pro Javokhir Sindarov in Bengaluru
On Sunday night in Bengaluru, cricketer Venkatesh Iyer faced off against chess player Javokhir Sindarov, ranked World No. 4, in a special chess match held at RCB Bar & Cafe.
During the game, Iyer, who has represented India in cricket's shorter formats, noted that he managed to last five minutes without losing to Sindarov. The chess player is in Bengaluru for the Global Chess League, where he competes for Fyers American Gambits, alongside teammates including Daniil Dubov and Nihal Sarin.
Iyer expressed admiration for Bengaluru's enthusiasm for various sports, stating that the city's passion extends beyond cricket to include football, athletics, chess, and more. The event also featured a shirt exchange between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the American Gambits.
