Verdict Expected for Men Charged in Surfer Murders in Mexico
A Mexican judge is anticipated to announce a verdict regarding three suspects charged with the murders of three surfers in Baja California, Mexico, today.
The accused, Jesús Gerardo García, Irineo Francisco, and Ángel Jesús, face serious charges including murder and aggravated assault. A fourth suspect, Ary Gisell Silva Raya, previously received a 20-year sentence after pleading guilty to related charges. The surfers, Australians Jake and Callum Robinson and American Jack Carter Rhoad, were reported missing on April 28, 2024, and their bodies were later found in a well, showing signs of gunshot wounds.
Silva Raya's testimony indicated that she initially sought fuel from the surfers and later informed García about their possessions. She recounted that García had expressed intentions to confront the surfers, leading to the violent incident. The trial commenced in September, with the parents of the Robinson brothers present at the hearing, advocating for severe punishment for the accused.
