Verstappen Adjusts Strategy Amid Ongoing Red Bull Issues

Max Verstappen has acknowledged that ongoing mechanical and aerodynamic issues with the RB22 have led him to alter his racing strategy, particularly when competing for minor points. This admission follows a challenging qualifying session at Monza, where he described the car as fragile.

Throughout the season, Verstappen has experienced various component failures and difficulties with the car's handling over bumps, which has resulted in lost lap time. While he believes he has identified the car's weaknesses, he noted that understanding the problem does not equate to resolving it.

Verstappen has intentionally scaled back his efforts when racing for lower positions, stating that he would not push hard for seventh place. He clarified that the issues at Monza were not dangerous, but he remains cautious due to previous instances of sudden aerodynamic loss. Currently, he is effectively out of the championship race, with Red Bull focusing on limited developments before shifting attention to the 2027 season.
