Verstappen Calls for Dutch Government Support for Motorsport
Max Verstappen has called on the Dutch government to take stronger measures to ensure the future of motorsport as the Formula 1 season approaches its conclusion at Zandvoort.
The Dutch Grand Prix returned in 2021, largely due to Verstappen's popularity, which Bernie Ecclestone noted was pivotal for its revival. However, Verstappen emphasized that maintaining interest in Dutch motorsport will require more than just his fame.
He highlighted the importance of government backing, citing Germany's decline in Formula 1 presence despite its rich automotive history as a cautionary tale. Verstappen pointed to Spain as a positive example of how public support can foster talent development in motorsport.
