Verstappen Prefers Retirement Over Team Switch
Max Verstappen has confirmed that he viewed retirement from Formula 1 as a more probable option than switching teams. This statement comes after the announcement of his contract extension with Red Bull, which will keep him with the team until 2030.
Verstappen, a four-time world champion, has been linked to teams such as Mercedes, Aston Martin, and McLaren. He emphasized his commitment to Red Bull, stating that he feels well-supported and has no desire to seek victories elsewhere. He acknowledged the departure of some team members but referred to Red Bull as his family.
During a press conference in Zandvoort, Verstappen mentioned that he was closer to retiring than changing teams, especially after expressing uncertainty about his future in Formula 1 earlier this season. He remains optimistic about the sport's direction and is open to future changes, particularly with the potential introduction of V8 engines.
