Vihaan Malhotra's Century Not Enough as Punjab Trails Assam in Ranji Trophy
On day three of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27, Vihaan Malhotra scored 103 runs on his First Class debut, but Punjab is still trailing Assam at the New PCA Stadium. Despite a strong start with a 137-run opening partnership with Harnoor Pannu, who contributed 54 runs, Punjab lost five wickets for 100 runs after tea.
Malhotra's innings included 11 boundaries, but he faced challenges, including a dropped catch when he was on 95. The team's collapse was somewhat mitigated by a 50-run partnership between Salil Arora and Emanjot Singh Chahal, leaving Punjab at 287 for five at stumps, still 86 runs behind Assam.
As the match progresses into the fourth day, Assam is optimistic about capitalizing on their lead and breaking the sixth-wicket partnership that currently stands firm for Punjab.
