Vikings' J.J. McCarthy Misses Practice Due to Ankle Injury
J.J. McCarthy, the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings, missed practice on Wednesday due to a deltoid sprain in his ankle. The team is hopeful that he will be able to play in their final preseason game on Friday against the Denver Broncos.
The injury occurred during Saturday's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens, where McCarthy played the first quarter before leaving the field after taking multiple hits. Although he was expected to continue playing, he did not return after hobbling off. McCarthy practiced on Monday and Tuesday but was held out of Wednesday's quasi-scrimmage to allow for additional healing time.
McCarthy is competing for the backup quarterback position against veteran Carson Wentz. Coach Kevin O’Connell noted that he aims to provide all quarterbacks with opportunities before making a decision on the depth chart behind starter Kyler Murray.
