During a recent segment on Fox 9 Minneapolis-St. Paul, former NFL player Pete Bercich advised McCarthy to be ready to step in as the backup quarterback, particularly for the upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers. Bercich highlighted the importance of McCarthy adopting a proactive mindset as he navigates his current role.

While there were indications that McCarthy might be positioned as the third-string quarterback, reports suggest that the Vikings had not yet finalized their backup quarterback arrangement. The team is currently managing a roster that includes four quarterbacks, which is unusual, and adjustments may be necessary as the season progresses.
