Vince McMahon to Pay $42.5 Million in WWE Shareholder Lawsuit Settlement
A recent court filing has revealed the details of the settlement regarding WWE's shareholder lawsuit. Vince McMahon and his insurers are set to pay $42.5 million as part of a total settlement amounting to $147.5 million, with WWE/TKO contributing $105 million.
The lawsuit was initiated by shareholders who claimed that the sale and merger process of WWE in 2023 was manipulated to benefit McMahon. A trial was anticipated earlier this summer but was avoided when the lawsuit was settled just before proceedings were to begin. A significant ruling by the judge indicated that the defense would face challenges due to the destruction of evidence, specifically messages on the Signal app that were automatically deleted.
While WWE/TKO and Endeavor's CEO Ari Emanuel were not named as defendants in the lawsuit, the finalization of the settlement is currently delayed due to disagreements over indemnification agreements between McMahon and the other defendants. McMahon, who held a senior role at WWE/TKO following the merger, resigned in January 2024 amid a separate sexual abuse lawsuit filed against him.
