The decision comes after Guerrero Jr. reported feeling tight and tired at the plate, prompting manager John Schneider to state that it is simply a day off for the player. Guerrero Jr. is experiencing hamstring tightness, and Schneider noted that he is eager to contribute more to the team.

Kazuma Okamoto will take over at first base, marking his fourth start in that position this season, while Josh Smith, recently acquired from the Texas Rangers, will make his debut at third base. Guerrero Jr. has struggled offensively this season, recording only six home runs and a .690 OPS as of Tuesday.
